 Verified  Great food from an inventive chef.
Up a very steep hill from the canal but very much worth the effort. Situated on the main road if you’re arriving more conventionally though. Very accommodating and attentive staff. Outstanding food and extensive drink selection. The corn beef hash was a mouth watering delight. A must try dish. Herb crusted halibut, special of the day, was also excellent. The chef is very inventive and his corn flake crème brûlée topped it all off beautifully. A great restaurant worth going out of your way for.

Just had a great Sunday lunch. Chose the mixed meat platter and they were all well cooked. The beef was pink and tender, veg was all beautifully cooked and plenty of it, stuffing was amazing and yorkies good. Service was attentive and friendly, decent prices as well

 Verified  Excellent Sunday Roasts
I visited The Copper Cow today for Sunday dinner and it was absolutely outstanding. The Sunday roast was genuinely the best I’ve had in years, perfectly cooked, generous portions and full of flavour. The apple crumble for dessert was the perfect finish; warm, homemade and done exactly right. The service also deserves a mention. The team were quite young, but they performed admirably- polite, attentive and regularly checking in without ever being intrusive. They were also knowledgeable about the menu and happy to help with recommendations. Overall a fantastic experience and one I’d happily recommend. If you’re looking for a proper Sunday roast, The Copper Cow is well worth a visit.

This was a gift for mother's day. What can I say but absolutely fantastic , the food was amazing fresh very tasty and freshly cooked absolutely spot on. Our waiter Olly was really good very professional for a young man so polite. Very attentive. We will definitely be coming back

Honest and fair review, having worked in hospitality many years I get the odd hiccup and things beyond staffs control, however there were a few things altogether. Upon booking you’re informed you get a 1.5hr allocation for your table, not a problem. We arrived 5-10 minutes before our reservation time and had a drink in the bar, again not a problem. However we weren’t seated at our table till around 4.45/4.50pm. We ordered fairly quickly and the food arrived around 5.30pm. My partner and father in law had steaks which they loved, except the side of onion rings. Think the batter was just too thin, not a huge issue. Mine and my mother in laws roasts looked amazing but weren’t hot. I would go as far to say were barely lukewarm. The mash and roast carrot in particular were tepid at best. However the rest of the veg arrived steaming and the gravy hot so we didn’t make a fuss as we were hungry. It tasted great, and I do understand the difficulty hot holding for roasts so it sometimes can happen. As I said tasted great! We ordered more drinks around 5.40/5.45pm as we were finishing up our food. They arrived shortly after and then a waiter came just after and slapped the bill on the table. We hadn’t asked for the bill and hadn’t even been offered desserts nor all the previous tableware been cleared. I understand the original time allocation for the table but as we hadn’t sat down on time I assumed we would still have the hour and a half. A party came in and were asked to have a drink and staff looked over at our table commenting on how it wouldn’t be long etc. We didn’t bother asking for desserts after this, left our remaining drinks, paid the bill and left. The food was tasty, I would return, perhaps just not on an occasion so it may potentially be a little less busy and run smoother.

We booked here for Valentine’s Day. The menu choices were really good and gave options other than your normal pub food. The staff were attentive, polite and friendly. The drinks were good and reasonably if not cheaply priced (depending where you normally drink) And then the food…. WOW! It was the best meal we have had out in years! We both had the flat iron steak and it was delicious- cooked to perfection, a massive portion of fries and we ordered some onion rings to share, these were huge, crispy and not at all greasy!  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Second visit to Copper Cow on Easter Sunday with a booking at 5 pm. The restaurant was very busy, but we were seated Swiftly and served also. The waiting staff are a credit to the proprietor, quick, efficient and effective . The atmosphere was excellent without it being too overbearing and lots of folk having a good time.
Ordered the sharing sunday dinner for two.
Meat including beef (nicely pink) gammon (excellently salted) and turkey (surprisingly moist) along with sausage meat stuffing balls, vegetables and an excellent yorkshire pudding. Our waiter suggested we could order more gravy uf we needed and of course we asked straight away. The food was excellent as already said, the green beans slightly over firm for me and the toasties would have benefited from being a waxy rather than  a floury variety, but other than that can't find fault. We were tempted by an apple crumble and a sticky toffee pudding sundae, both of which, we didn't know we needed, but were glad to have them! I'd recommend paying a visit to support a local independent who care about great, service and food.
